Marie Hamilton, 84 years of Hillsboro, died Friday, February 10, 2006 at her residence.
She was born in Adams County, Ohio on August 10, 1921 the daughter of the late H.C. and Evelyn Bartlow Markins.
She grew up in and was a member of the Evergreen Baptist Church, and later transferred her membership to the Belfast Presbyterian Church. She was a cook at Belfast School, worked at Bolte Grocery, Highland County Board of Elections and Highland County Treasurer, and was Jackson Township Clerk for many years. She was a member of the Highland County Senior Citizens.
Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert H. Bud Hamilton, who passed away May 26, 1998, two brothers, Howard Markins and Russell Markins, and one sister, Lucille Copas Donlon.
She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn and Galen Neal of Hillsboro, Kay and Richard Burns of Sardinia, one son and daughter-in-law, John Robert Bob and Cary Hamilton of Lebanon, Tennessee, one brother-in-law, Bill Donlon of Nashville, Tennessee, two sisters-in-law, Doris Markins of Peebles, Marie Markins of Cyprus, Texas, and three grandchildren, Devin Hamilton, Joe Mary Burns, and Travis Burns, and friend Kim Nicely.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, February 12, 2006 at 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Rev. Tom Zile officiating. Burial will follow in the Coss Cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 1:00 till 2:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
