Martha Ellen Lucas, 88 years of Waverly, OH., formerly of Hillsboro, OH. died Thursday, June 07, 2007 at The Traditions at Bristol Village in Waverly, OH.
She was born October 6, 1918 at Winchester, Ohio, the daughter of the late Alva and Rose Trop Overman.
Martha was united in marriage on December 25, 1938 to Laurence A. Lucas who preceded her in death on January 7, 1997, a son Philip Lucas, two sisters, Virginia Zint and Elizabeth Hazelton, one brother, John Hill.
Martha Ellen lived on her family farm for 58 years. She moved to Bristol Village where has resided for almost nine years. Her life in the village was filled with wonderful friends, church family and many hours of volunteer work. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and had a passion for writing. She was a great hostess and had a great gift of hospitality. She was a member of the Waverly First Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Larry and Linda Lucas of Athens, OH., Daniel and Gay Lucas of Strongsville, OH.; one daughter and son-in-law, Connie and Andy Alexander of Atlanta, GA.; daughter-in-law, Erma Lucas of Columbus, OH., her grandchildren, Troy Meg Alexander of Lithia, FL., Andrea Graham of Atlanta, GA., Jack Jenny Lucas of Boston, Craig Anna Lucas of Cleveland, OH., Eric Sarah Lucas of Pataskala, OH., Todd Melissa Lucas of Athens, OH., Laureen Patrick McClain of Athens, OH., and 13 great grandchildren. One brother, Pat Dale Hill of California, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ronald and Elvera Lucas of Hillsboro, Oh., Meredith and Doranna Nicley of Hillsboro, OH., several nieces and nephews and a host of wonderful friends.
Funeral services will be 4:00 P.M. Sunday, June 10, 2007 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Pastor Gary Pack will officiate with burial to follow in the Mt. Zion Cemetery. Friends may call from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. on Sunday at Thompson Funeral Home.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at Bristol Village in Waverly, OH.
