Martha Penwell, 76 years of Peebles, OH died Wednesday, October 14, 2009 at Piketon, OH. She was born in Leslie County, KY, the daughter of the late Elisha and Mary Fields Collins.
On July 18, 1948 she was united in marriage to Wayne Penwell who preceded her in death on July 20, 2004. She also was preceded in death by step-daughter, Kathryn Stone, four brothers, Denton, Bobby, Earl, McKinley Collins, three sisters, Nellie Phillips, Bertha Collins and Shirley Hardage.
Martha is survived by two sons, Doug wife Pam Penwell of Piketon, OH and Mike wife Vicky Penwell of Latham, OH, four daughters, Wanda husband Ed Becker of Kingston, OH, Lora husband Tony VanMeter of Latham, OH, Mary husband Carlos Knisley of Latham, OH and Kim husband Danny Keller of Greenfield, OH, three brothers, Ed Collins of Portsmouth, OH, Floyd Collins of Louisiana, Herbert Collins of California, two sisters, Ellen Ellis of New Petersburg, OH, Rinda Grooms of Washington Court House, OH, 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren with two on the way, six great-great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 19th at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring with Rev. Jeff May officiating. Burial will follow at Lapperell Cemetery. Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
