Mary M. Cooper Boulter, 83 years of St. Petersburg, Florida died, Sunday, January 21, 2007 at the Kindred Hospital in St. Petersburg, Florida.
She was born near Hillsboro, Ohio and moved to St. Petersburg in 1975 from the area of Detroit, Michigan.
She won a district scholarship competition in algebra at Miami University, Oxford, Ohio, and a four year departmental scholarship in music at Wilmington College, Wilmington, Ohio. She was a student at Cincinnati Bible Seminary and pianist for various Christian/Churches of Christ in Ohio and Michigan. She worked in the accounting department at Prudential Insurance Company ? Mortgage Division, Detroit for ten years. She was an organ instructor for Baldwin Piano and Organ Company at their branch store, Smiley Bros. Music Co., Birmingham, Michigan retiring after ten years. She was a member of Central Woodward Christian Church Disciples of Christ, Detroit, a deaconess, and group leader in their Christian Women?s Fellowship, and a member of the Baldwin Organ Club. She was a substitute church organist in Baptist, Methodist, and Christian churches in Michigan and Florida. In St. Petersburg she was a member of the Palm Lake Christian Church and a former member of Mirror Lake Christian Church. She was an organist at the Hollowtown Church of Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Oakley T. Cooper, who passed away on May 4, 1991.
Survivors include four step sons, Calvin of Traverse City, Michigan, David of Murchison, Texas, Paul of Rochester, New York, and Stephen of Lakeland, Florida, one step daughter, Constance Leggett of Rociada, New Mexico, ten step grandchildren, ten step great grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Jean Stanforth of Hillsboro.
Burial will take place in Hillsboro Cemetery under the direction of Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
