Mary Hazel Rhoads

Mary Hazel Rhoads, 97 years old of Sinking Spring, died Sunday, August 31, 2003 at Crestwood Nursing Center in Hillsboro.
She was born March 4, 1906 at Serpent Mound, the daughter of the late Daniel and Jenny Morris Wallace. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Irvin Rhoads, five brothers and three sisters.
She attended the Church of the Brethren, owned and operated the Rhoads Grocery Store in Sinking Spring for many years.
She is survived by son and daughter-in-law Carlos and Ermalene Rhoads of Locust Grove, daughter and son-in-law Frances and Bill McAfee of Hillsboro, six grandchildren, Marlyn Sue Davis, Billy Mary Rhoads, Linda Gallagher, Peggy Vondon Applegate all of Locust Grove, David Brenda Rhoads and Preston Sandy Mustard both of Jackson, Ohio, 19 great grandchildren, 25 great great grandchildren and 1 great great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, September 3, 2003 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring. Rev. Marlyn Davis will officiate with burial to follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 AM until service time at 11:00 AM at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
