Mary E. Stanforth Simmons, 95 years old, of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, May 23, 2001 at the Highland District Hospital.
She was born in Adams County on December 28, 1905 the daughter of the late James O. and Cordelia R. Gustin LaMonda.
She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, Highland County Senior Citizen, WCTU, Secretary for the American Cancer Society for several years, Royal Neighbors, Treasurer for many years of the D of A and Mary had a love for literature and poetry and had written several poems.
Beside her parents she was preceded by her 1st husband John W. Stanforth on January 17, 1976 and her 2nd husband Chester Simmons on October 4, 1983, five brothers, Herbert, Lynn, Charles, James and Carey LaMonda and one sister Verna Andress.
She is survived by two sons, James G. Stanforth of Cleveland, OH., Dick Stanforth of Tampa, Fl., one daughter Betty June Soergel of Pittsburg, PA., ten grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 26, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home with John Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the New Market Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday evening from 6:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
