MAUD O. SMITH

Mrs. Smith died 21 July 2006, at Bethesda North Hospital in Cincinnati, following complications in her battle with cardio-pulmonary disease.

She was born 7 January 1934, in Middletown, Ohio, the daughter of John C. ?Shorty? and Opal Perry Williams.

She worked for a number of years as a nurses? aid at Middletown Regional Hospital, before moving to the New Orleans area, working for Tiger Equipment and the Louis Armstrong Airport. Upon retiring, she returned to Ohio for several years to live in the Hillsboro area, later moving to Elizabeth City, NC, and in March of this year moved back to Hillsboro.

Mrs. Smith is survived by her former husband, John D. Gill, I of Hamilton, OH, their children, grand and great grandchildren: Ann Wetzel of Hillsboro, OH; James B. Gill, James Salisbury and Britany Gill; Sharon and Bobby Verrett of Marrero LA, Steven, Amanda and Bobby, Shane and Trista. Roger and Cindy Gill of Kettering OH: Nicki, Jeff, Olivia, Selena and Miranda; Kylee, Hunter, and Thayne; John and Lynn Gill, II of Westwego, LA?, Emma Condrey, fiancée Tom Cox and Son Braden of Hillsboro, Oh, her sister Mary Sharp of Middletown, Ohio, and brother George Williams of Elizabeth City, NC, step grand, great and great great grand children: Penny Randy Wetzel Netherly, her son Adam Rothman, Stacey and Rick Horn, daughter Ashley; Kristie and John Eckman, and daughter Brooklyne.

Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her second husband Ralph Smith of Greensboro, SC, sister-in-law Pearl Williams of Elizabeth City, NC, and brother-in-law Archie Sharp of Middletown, OH, and son-in-law Linley Len Wetzel, II, valued friends Roy and Thelma Ackles, Dorothy and Glen Mustard.

Services will be held at The Steve Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Pastor Mike Brown officiating assisted by his wife, Dee. Visitations will be from 11 to 1 on Tuesday, 25 July 2006 with the funeral following immediately and burial at the Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Her family wishes to thank Dr. Gina Melink, Highalnd District Hospital, and the Laurels of Hillsboro for their compassion and kindness in caring for her, also Bethesda North Hospital.
