Melvin Allen, 79 years of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, May 27, 2003 at the Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro.
He was born in Magoffin County, Kentucky on May 12, 1924 the son of the late Oscar and Ida Mae Bailey Allen.
He was an Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He retired from Bell?s Foundry.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one brother, Freddie Allen, and one sister, Virgie Stumbo.
He is survived by his wife, Delores Webb Allen, who he married on March 29, 1975, sons, Charles Allen, Donnie Allen, daughters, Kay Throckmorton, Janet, step son, William Gabbard, step daughter, Wanda K. Christman, and brothers, Frank Allen, Jesse Allen, Robert Allen, Dick Allen, and Virgil Allen, twelve grandchildren, and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 2, 2003 at 3:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Dr. Dan Lamb officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 till 3:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
