Melvin L. Mason, 70 years of Peebles, died Thursday, November 30, 2006 at the Adams County Hospital in West Union.
He was born in Momence, Illinois on August 17, 1936 the son of the late Donald and Mildred Burns Mason.
He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ and the Peebles American Legion Thompson-Wallingford Post #594.
He was united in marriage on September 5, 1959 to Louise Ford Mason, who survives. He is also survived by sons and daughter-in-law, Richard and Pauletta Nixon of Cincinnati, Kent Self of Peebles, daughter and son-in-law, Mona and Mark Rhoads of Wilmington, brothers, Jim Mason of Washington Court House, Norman Mason of Washington Court House, Art Mason of Brookville, Pennsylvania, Dean Mason of Otway, sisters, Lois Howard of Seattle, Washington, Alice Abrassart of Las Vegas, Nevada, Lynda Hixon of Washington Court House, Marla Hasbargan of Chebanse, Illinois, grandchildren, Jeanine, Kristi, Kayla, Kyle, Joshua, Mariah, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, December 4, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Peebles Church of Christ with Jim Chandler and Matthew Greene officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 till 5:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
