Meredith E. Nicley, 93 years of Hillsboro, formerly of Greenfield, passed away Sunday, November 18, 2012.
He was born in Blanchester, OH on June 17, 1919, the son of the late William H. and Elsie W. Nicley.
He was a member of the Greenfield First United Methodist Church, Greenfield Masonic Lodge and attended The Hillsboro Church of Christ for thirty-three years. While serving in World War II he spent twenty-five months in the South Pacific.
Preceding him in death were his first wife, Dorothy McConnell Nicley, his second wife Doranna Barrett Nicley and brothers, Lawrence and Clyde Nicley.
He is survived by Doranna Barrett Nicley's children; Deloris Jerry Wisbey of Cincinnati, OH and son Leonard Sue Barrett of Titusville, FL; grandchildren, Jill Todd Somerville of Milford, MI, Steven Shannon Wisbey of Louisville, KY, Kirk Barrett Sally of San Francisco, CA, and David Barrett Michele of San Francisco, CA; great-grandchildren, Barrett and Jacob Wisbey of Louisville, KY; and several nieces and nephews.
He owned a men's clothing store in Greenfield, OH for a short time, worked as a typesetter for Greenfield Printing for twenty-two years and retired from the Kenworth Truck Company in Chillicothe, OH. In April 2011 he moved into the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, OH where he resided until his death.
Visitation is at the Thompson Funeral Home on Tuesday, November 20 at 12:00 p.m. prior to services beginning at 1:00 p.m., John Porter officiating.
Burial will follow at the Greenfield Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
