Minnie Mae Storer was born on July 16, 1916, to Albert and Minnie Morris Johnson in Highland County. She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School with the class of 1937. On May 26, 1937, she was united in marriage to Elmont Storer of the Belfast community.
To this union was born two sons, who survive: Kenneth Barbara of Hillsboro, and Donald Becky also of Hillsboro. She has three granddaughters: Tina Tim Young of Hillsboro, Jenny Shawn Heflick of Florida, and Heather Storer of Hillsboro and three great grandchildren, Ben and Emily Young, and Thorne Heflick also survive. Three dear friends who were like sisters, Marie Hamilton, Helen Sprinkle, and Helen Tankersly, all of Hillsboro, also survive.
Minnie Mae lived for her family and friends. She was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ at an early age and was a dedicated member of the Highland County Senior Citizens until age slowed her down. She loved to work in the food line where so many friends passed her by each day. She loved people and helped whenever possible.
Her husband passed away on February 14, 1992, and after his death, her main love of her life was her two sons whom she loved dearly. She always said she could never repay them for their thoughtfulness.
Mrs. Storer served as the secretary-treasurer of the Vineyard Square Condominiums for several years and had enjoyed many good and supportive friendships while residing there.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, July 9, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with Charlie Gorman officiating. Burial will follow in the Coss Cemetery.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Southern State Community College Scholarship Fund or the Highland County Senior Citizens.
