Murven C. Shoemaker

Murven C. Shoemaker, Sr., 89 years of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, February 7, 2007 at his residence.

He was born in Highland County, Ohio on March 15, 1917 the son of the late Harley B. and Lydia Creed Shoemaker.

He was a 1935 graduate of Marshall High School. He retired from Moorman Manufacturing Company. He was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ and the Highland County Senior Citizens.

Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Bernice Smiley Shoemaker, who passed away on November 27, 1994, two daughters, Janet Lucas Wright, Doris Jean Hoffman, two grandchildren, three brothers, Homer, Virgil and Arthur Shoemaker, and two sisters, Launetta Shoemaker and Margene Shoemaker.

He was united in marriage on April 15, 1998 to Virginia Hill Shoemaker, who survives. He is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Marlene Shoemaker of Florida, Charles and Sharon Shoemaker of Waverly, Murven and Loraine Shoemaker, Jr. of Louisiana, Jim Shoemaker of Columbus, Ohio, Walter Robert and Judy Shoemaker of Hillsboro, daughters and son-in-law, Carolyn and James Beard of Dublin, Ohio, Ruth Ann Vance of West Jefferson, Ohio, Edith Shoemaker of Columbus, Ohio, step son, Donald Diane Carey of Hillsboro, step daughter, Patty Jack Walker of Hillsboro, twenty-five grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren, five step grandchildren, and numerous step great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 12, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro with John Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Tranquility Cemetery.

Friends may call on Sunday from 2:00 till 6:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
