Nelson Lee Dotson, 78 years old, of Seaman, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on July 2, 2023. He was born in Oliver Township, in Adams County, Ohio, on November 6, 1944, the son of the late Lacy and Sarah (Rasnick) Dotson.
Nelson was a 1963 graduate of Hillsboro High School and then served in the United States Air Force from 1965 to 1968 and was a Vietnam Veteran. He was employed at Columbus & Southern Electric, now American Electric Power (AEP Ohio), as a journeyman/lineman and servicer for 39 years. Nelson enjoyed life, hunting, fishing, raising chickens, and loving his family. Nelson never met a stranger and will be remembered for his willingness to always help others. He loved his family and friends with his whole heart.
Nelson is survived by his wife of 52 years, Janet L. (Thompson) Dotson, whom he married December 2, 1970, in Maysville, Kentucky; and three children, Troy (Amy) Dotson, Brian (Stacey) Dotson, and Mary Jane Dotson, all of Dotson Road, Seaman, Ohio. He will be missed by his six grandchildren, Makyia Dotson, Kaylan (Nathan) Nehus, Kennedi Dotson, Kaleb Dotson, Kaden Dotson, and Ashley Dotson; his two great grandchildren, McKenna and Brylee Nehus and a great granddaughter on the way; his sisters, Barbara (Jim) Eakins of Shelby, Ohio; and Debbie Dotson of Maysville, Kentucky; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Chester and William "Bill" Dotson.
Family and friends may pay their respects during visitation on Thursday, July 6, 2023, from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Seaman, Ohio.
Funeral services will be held the following morning, on Friday, July 7, 2023, beginning at 11:00 am, at the Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home, in Seaman. Pastor Michael Parks will officiate the service. The burial will follow at the Tranquility Cemetery, in Seaman. Military rites will be provided by the Adams County Honor Guard.
