Nona Carter, 78 years of Lynchburg, passed away on December 16, 2022 at 7:55 P.M. with family by her side at OSU Medical Center in Columbus.
Non was born September 6, 1944, in Saul, KY., the daughter of the late Ira and (Oma (Collins) Rice.
She was the wife of Allen R. Carter from December 26, 1963, to May 19, 1986. A mother to Jim Carter, Rick (Mary) Carter, Diena (Eddie) Moore, Chris Carter, Pamela (Kate) Maggart; grandmother to Emily Carter, Robert Carter, Krystal (William) Blair, Shawn Hogsten, Sheila (Andy) Stoneburner, Brian (Tracy) McCoy; great grandmother to Ivy Blair, Diena Rose Blair, Gwyn Stoneburner, Ezra McCoy; sister to, Hobart, Aster, Lester Tester, Lily, Estmae, Ellen, Irene, Marion, Easter and Annie; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Nona loved flowers, gardening and fishing when she was able. Nona worked at McDonald's in Hillsboro until her retirement. She was a gentle, kind and loving person, loved by everyone. An angel to her children, their light in times of trouble, she was there, to be their beacon of light, their rock. She was sassy at times with them, but the times they had with her will be cherished forever.
Funeral services will be held 12:00 P.M., Wednesday, December 21, 2022 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
Brian S. Vance will officiate with burial to follow in the Samantha Methodist Cemetery.
Friends may call Wednesday from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
