Norma Lavaun Sams

Norma Lavaun Sams, 93 years of Hillsboro, Oh, died Thursday, May 14, 2009 at Highland District Hospital.
She was born in Buford, Oh on March 26, 1916 the daughter of the late Dallas and Lizzie Roades Young.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband James Paul Sams who passed away November 8, 2002, two brothers Herman Young and Doyle Young and one sister Wanda Kratzer.
Norma was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, a former Sunday School Teacher and Youth Leader. Norma worked at the Hillsboro Haines Department Store for 18 years and also loved to tend to her flowers.
She is survived by three sons, Danny Sams of Norwood, OH., Dr. Rev. Ronald T. Barbara Sams of Columbus, OH., Rev. J. Donald Nancy Sams of Middletown, OH., two daughters Lavaun Everett Roush of Lake Village, Arkansas, Linda Lou Bill Ferguson of Hillsboro, OH., one sister Genevieve Max Young-Matson of Florida, eleven grandchildren; David Renee Sams, Beth Ann Rick Brown, Jana Kay Rev Todd Marrah, Skip Sams, Melinda Sid Hargrow, Rev. Mark Gail Sams, Sheri Sams, Attorney Jonathan Julia Sams, Dr. Rev. Stephen Lisa Sams, Rinda Ferguson and Joseph Roush, twenty four great grandchildren and one great great grandchild and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 18, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Rev. Todd Marrah, John Porter, Dr. Rev. Stephen Sams and Rev. Mark Sams will be officiating. Burial will follow in Buford cemetery.
Friends may call on Sunday from 4:00 till 7:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the Hillsboro Church of Christ, 155 W. Walnut St., Hillsboro, OH 45133.
