Omer "Qwet" Swayne, 87 years of McDermott, died Tuesday, May 16, 2006 at the Riverside Hospital in Columbus.
He was born in Peebles, Ohio on July 26, 1918 the son of the late Homer and Melissa Hilterbran Swayne.
He is a United States Air Force veteran of World War II. He graduated from Franklin High School in the class of 1937. He retired after forty-one years from N&W Railroad. He was a member of the U.T.U. Local #496.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Paul Swayne, six brothers, Glen, Clarence, Berlin, Perk, Gene, and Forrest, and two sisters, Ruth and Bertha.
He was united in marriage in July of 1946 to Edith Unger Swayne, who survives. He is also survived by sons and daughters-in-law, Neil and Susie Swayne of Washington Court House, Don and Barb Swayne of Waverly, Mitch and Rose Swayne of Baltimore, Ohio, Jake Swayne of McDermott, Dave and Rhonda Swayne of Minford, Dale Swayne of McDermott, Jack Swayne of McDermott, daughter, Eva Swayne Davis of Lucasville, twelve grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 19, 2006 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Robert Temple officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home.
