Opal Elizabeth Murphy

Opal Elizabeth Murphy, 92 years of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, July 16, 2003 at the Highland District Hospital in Hillsboro.

She was born in Highland County, Ohio on July 31, 1910 the daughter of the late John and Rose Fox Murphy.

She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School. She was a teacher in the Miamisburg School System, and was a substitute teacher in the Hillsboro City Schools. She was a member of the Hillsboro First Presbyterian Church, the National Retired Teachers Association, and the Ohio Retired Teachers Association.

Beside her parents she was preceded in death by her sister, Mabel K. Murphy, who passed away on May 11, 2003, and her brother, Charles E. Murphy.

She is survived by her nephew, Charles Murphy of Seattle, Washington, niece, Barbara Griffith of Seattle, Washington, great nephew, David Griffith of Old Saybrook, Connecticut, great nephew, Bob Griffith of Fairbanks, Alaska, great niece, Beth Matthies of Indianapolis, Indiana, four great great nieces, and one great great nephew.

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 19, 2003 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hillsboro Cemetery with John Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.

There will be no visitation.

Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of arrangements.
