Pauline Marie Dixon Inwood died in her home of heart failure at the age of 92 on October 10, 2011.
She was born to Theodore and Janie Davis Dixon on March 2, 1919 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She resided in Clinton County, Ohio on the family farm she shared with her late husband, Charles E. Inwood, to whom she was married on September 22, 1941.
She was employed by Wilmington College for 35 years, until her retirement at age 76. She can be remembered for her enjoyment of life and her strong will to live, despite many hardships. Without ever waivering, she gave unconditional love to her family. In her younger years she enjoyed nature hikes, camping, gardening, woodworking, quilting and making good "memories" for her children and grandchildren. In her later years, she enjoyed raising African violets, reading Louis L'Amour frontier stories, watching old cowboy movies and spending time with family and friends.
She is survived by her 5 children, C. Ashley Theresa Inwood, Wilmington, Ohio, T. Allen Karla Inwood, Lebanon, Illinois, R. Jane Doug Carmean, Leesburg, Ohio, Mark E. Inwood and Jonathan R. Inwood both of Wilmington, Ohio.
Pauline was the epitome of the perfect Gram to eight grand children who all survive to mourn their loss. In order of birth, they are: Amy B. Steve Barton, Kevin D. Debbie Carmean, Kimberly J. Storck, Melissa J. Inwood, Tonya M. Jared Davis, Charles E. Inwood II, Bradford A. Stephanie Inwood and Jason E. Inwood. Her grandchildren have blessed her with a total of 16 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
She is also survived by her beloved sister, Willa Mae Carl Larson of Madera, California and many nieces, nephews, several cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died of natural causes in the summer of 1960. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by two sisters, Vera Forrest Franklin and Elma Wallace Franklin and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, 2011 between the hours of 2:00PM & 3:00PM at the Chester Friends Meeting, 3451 Gurneyville Road, Wilmington, Ohio, 45177 with services officiated by Nancy and Mike McCormick immediately following. Internment will be in the Chester Township Cemetery on New Burlington Road in Clinton County. Thompson Funeral Home, Hillsboro, OH is in charge of arrangements 937-393-2373.
In lieu of flowers, family and friends may choose to contribute to the American Cancer Society, American Heart Association, American Stroke Foundation or the charity of their choice.
The children wish to thank her family and friends for their many prayers and cards sent during her final months. Her family appreciates her many caregivers this past Spring at Miami Valley Hospital and Bellbrook Rehab Center and more recently, Hospice of Dayton and the Visiting Physicians Association of Kettering.
