Randy O. Reffitt, 47 years of Hillsboro, died Thursday, August 26, 2010 at Fairfield Mercy Hospital .
Randy was born January 5, 1963 in Hillsboro, OH., the son the late Orville Reffitt and Vickie Ruggiero Reffitt of Hillsboro.
Randy was a 1981 graduate of Hillsboro High School and a 1992 graduate of the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy. Randy was employed by Hillsboro Police Department from 1991 to August 2005 and in August 2005 moved to the Highland County Sheriffs Office as the Canine Officer. In January 2008 until present he was promoted to Lt. and became the Jail Administrator.
Randy owned and operated the Hillsboro Martial Arts Karate Academy and was currently teaching at the Highland County YMCA. In 1990 he became a member of the American Karate and Ju-Jitsu Union. Randy earned his 5th Degree Black Belt and was a Black Belt Hall of Fame Inductee into the Eastern USA International Martial Arts Association since 2002. He was a member of Team USA and AKJU Team America where he fought in many competitions in the USA, Ireland and the Dominican Republic.
He is survived by his wife Shana Ryan Reffitt, one daughter and son-in-law, Sandy "Bear" and Dave Roberson of Biloxi, MS., two sons, Bradley Reffitt of Biloxi, MS. and Chaise Reffitt at home, his mother Vicki Reffitt of Hillsboro, two sisters and brother-in-law, Sandy Pacurari of Florida and Denise and Tom Herman of Cincinnati, OH., Father-in-law, Jeff Sandy Ryan of Sinking Spring, two brothers-in-law Jacob Ryan of Sinking Spring and Jordan Ryan of Peebles, two step sisters-n-law, Cristin Smalley of Peebles and Erin Smalley of Peebles, special aunt Jackie Page of Hillsboro, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, August 31, 2010 at the Hillsboro Church of Christ.
Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call Monday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ with FOP Services at 7:00 P.M. on Monday.
Family requests memorials to the HCSO Canine Fund, 130 Homestead Avenue, Hillsboro, OH 45133.
Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro is in charge of funeral arrangements.
