Raymond Mitchel Fairley, 71 years of Hillsboro, died Tuesday, December 16, 2003 at the VA Medical Center in Cincinnati.
He was born in Highland County, Ohio on September 7, 1932 the son of the late Walter and Louise Marie Marcum Fairley.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a lifelong farmer and truck driver.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one grandson, Mike Fairley, three brothers, Willard, James and Ralph Fairley, and two sisters, Phyllis Walker, and Ruby Carter.
He was united in marriage on July 20, 1955 to Verna Fairley, who survives. Also surviving are his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Clyde and Louree May of Waverly, sons and daughter-in-law, David Fairley of Hillsboro, Monty and Diane Fairley of Sardinia, daughters and son-in-law, June Fairley of Greenfield, Merry and Tony Odel of Piketon, sister and brother-in-law, Betty Beatty and Gary Browder of Greenfield, brother and sister-in-law, John and Linda Fairley of Hillsboro, fourteen grandchildren, two great granddaughters, and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2003 at 1:00 P.M. at the Gilboa Cemetery with Marvin Wilson officiating. Burial will follow in the Gilboa Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home.
