Raymond Short, 82 years of Peebles, died Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at The Laurels of Hillsboro.
He was born June 14, 1929 in Dayton, OH., the son of the late Bert and Emma White Short. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Mike Short, one granddaughter, Melissa Short, one brother, Mark Short, one sister, Betty Short.
Raymond retired from the Gross-Feibel Co in Hillsboro, member of FOE Aerie #1161 Hillsboro. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to hunt, fish and raise a garden. He had a passion for bowling and pitching horse shoes.
On March 4, 1949 he was united in marriage to Wanda Shoemaker Short who survives. He is also survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Patricia and Clinton Fields of Sinking, OH., Jean and Joe Thompson of Buford; three sons and daughter-in-law, Marvin Short of Aurora, CO., Randy and Dotty Short of Piketon, Rick Short of Hillsboro; two brothers, Ray Short of Sinking Spring, Leo Short of Peebles; two sisters, Flossie Gall of Hillsboro, Florence Workman of Peebles; 10 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 17, 2011 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring.
Burial will follow in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may call Friday from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
