Richard Vernon Swisshelm

Richard Vernon Swisshelm Sr., 90 years of Westerville, Ohio, formerly of Hillsboro, Ohio died Friday, July 20, 2001 at the Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus.
He was born in Highland County on June 25, 1911 the son of Richard H. and Cecelia McGlinchie Swisshelm.
He was a member of the St. Mary?s Catholic Church, former member of the Hillsboro Lions Club for many years, American Society of Civil Engineer?s, member of the University of Cincinnati Alumnus, Graduate of Hillsboro High School and the University of Cincinnati. Was a Civil Engineer for O.D.O.T., State of Ohio retiring in 1972.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Lois Caldwell Swisshelm on March 25, 1998 and one sister, Eleanor Moellers.
He is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Richard and Sheri Swisshelm of Columbus, John and Karen Swisshelm of Seattle, Washington, four grandchildren, Mark A. Carol, Susan Marie, Lisa Marie and Brian Swisshelm.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, July 24, 2001 at 10:00 A.M. at the St. Mary?s Catholic Church with Rev. Stanley Luehrmann officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Mary?s Catholic Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday evening from 5:00 to 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, with Rosary Service at 8:00 P.M.
Memorials may be made to Grant/Riverside Methodist Hospital Foundation, 7 North Oncology, 3535 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214-3998.
