Robert Lee Layne

Robert Lee Layne, Sr., 66 years of Hillsboro died Monday June 15, 2015.
Robert was born on November 12, 1948 in Cincinnati, OH., the son of the late John and Amanda (Johnson) Layne. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by one son Robert David Layne and one brother Walter Layne.
Robert was a medical corpsman for the US Army during the Viet-Nam War. He worked as a jailer, sheriff, chief of police and police officer for several counties in Ohio from 1976-1992. He was a 1996 graduate of Southern State Community College where he received a degree in nursing. He worked as a nurse for 11 years at Wilmington Nursing and Rehab, before retiring and moving to Rogersville, TN. in the summer of 2010. After receiving a diagnosis of terminal cancer, he moved back to Ohio to be near his children.
He is survived by his children, Vicki (Erik) Whitman of Hillsboro, Shawn Layne, Larry Layne, Bobby (Amber) Layne all of Sabina, John Layne of Hillsboro, Seth (Jeanetta) Layne of Clinton, IN., Benjamin (Demi Payne) Layne of Hillsboro, Jeremiah (Katelyn Asbury) Layne of Hillsboro; 16 grandchildren, Kristen, Kalob, Madison, Kiersten, Gavin, Kaden, Ariyanna, Lilly, Kyler, Kaylie, Kandyce, Kenneth, Macie, Jasmine, Junior and Carson; three brothers, John (Peggy) Layne, Paul Layne, Harold (Kathy) Layne all of Cincinnati; one sister, Edna Foote of Georgetown; several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Northview Baptist Church, 1139 Northview Drive, Hillsboro, OH. where friends may call Friday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M.
Pastor Keith Asbury will officiate with burial to follow in the New Antioch Cemetery.
Military Graveside Rites will be conducted by the Highland County Honor Guard.
