Robert I. Martin, 78 years of Hillsboro, died Wednesday, November 7, 2007 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown, Ohio.
He was born in Hillsboro, Ohio on December 24, 1928 the son of the late Floyd A. and Mabel Waits Martin.
Robert was a member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, US Army veteran of the Korean War, member and past master of F&AM Hillsboro Lodge #38. A member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati, Order of Eastern Star Lodge #441 Hillsboro, American Legion Post #129 Hillsboro, VFW in Hillsboro, and member of the Highland County Honor Guard, and honorable Kentucky Colonel. He was also a member of Highland County Senior Citizens, Highland Amateur Radio Association, American Radio Relay League, and AM-Vets. Robert was the founder of the local chapter of DeMoley, a former Hillsboro Police Officer Sergeant, and past commissioner for Highland County Veterans Association, and member of the Rural Carrier Association.
He is survived by his wife of 58 years Ruth Anne Parshall Martin of Hillsboro, Ohio. Son & Daughter-in-Law: Jeffry & Cathy Jo Martin of Hillsboro, Ohio. Daughter & Son-in-Law: Jill & David Fauber of Hillsboro, Ohio. Two grandchildren Nicholas Fauber of Hillsboro, Ohio & Fiancé Cathy Sue Shipley, and Lindsay Fauber of Hillsboro, Ohio, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 10, 2007 at 1:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro, Ohio with John Porter officiating.
Burial will follow in the Buford Cemetery with Military services provided by the Highland County Honor Guard.
Friends may call on Friday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home with Masonic services & Scottish Rite Services at 7:30 PM.
