Roger Earl Gossett

Roger Earl Gossett, 84 years, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, November 15, 2016 at The Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio.

Roger was born in Pricetown, OH on September 28, 1932 the son of the late Halder Hoyt & Ethel Pearl (Prine) Gossett. Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his sister; Mary Margaret Duke, and two brothers; Hugh M. Gossett and Paul Edward Gossett, Sister-in-laws; Dolores McLaughlin, Wilma Gossett, and Phyllis Gossett, one niece Teresa Gossett Houdeshell, one nephew Ralph Gossett and brother-in-laws, Carl Leininger and William "Jake" Duke.

He graduated from Lynchburg High School in 1950 and was a member of the Union Church of Christ. Roger proudly served our country in the US Army from 1952 through 1954 during the Korean War as a corporal in the military police. He was also a member of the American Legion Post #694 in Mowystown, Ohio, for 34 years, where he served as Commander for several years.

Roger is survived by his wife Freda (Jeannette) McLaughlin, whom he married on January 28, 1956, and celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on January 28, 2016. He is also survived by four children, Dana (Elise) Gossett, Gary (Jennifer) Gossett, Tim Gossett, and Pamela (Rob) Jackson, two grandsons Michael (Janey) Gossett) and David Gossett, two step granddaughters Sara (Clinton) Throckmorton, and Rachel (Patrick) Cuddihee, seven step great grandchildren, two sisters Velma Layman of Ocala, FL, and Vila Leininger of Danville, Ohio, three brother-in-laws Robert McLaughlin, John (Lois) McLaughlin, Gene (Kay) McLaughlin, and one sister-in-law; Lou Jean Dixon all of Hillsboro, Ohio.

A visitation will be held from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Monday November 21, 2016 at the Union Church of Christ. Funeral services will be held the following day Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 11:00 AM at the Church with a military graveside service to follow at the Rubel Cemetery in Pricetown.

The family asks that you make donations to a charity of the Donors Choice in Roger's name.
