Russell K. ?Dick? Newman, 66 years of Hillsboro, died Monday, September 24, 2001 at the VA Medical Center in Dayton.
He was born in Highland County on June 17, 1935 the son of Andrew J. and Alma Conley Newman.
He was a member of the Mt. Washington Church of Christ, Fraternal order of Eagles Aerie #1161, Hillsboro; American Legion Post #14, Bainbridge, Ohio.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers, Bud Newman, Joe Newman and William Newman, two sisters, Jan Newman and Lillie Shrout.
He is survived by his wife Rosalind Weibley Newman whom he married on March 19, 1955, one son and daughter-in-law, Russ and Vickie Newman of Hillsboro, one daughter and son-in-law, Renee Alma and Ben Sexton of Hillsboro,grandchildren, Ryan Newman, Tausha Brett Barton, Bobby, Jessie, Sean, Michelle and Jason Stockwell, special nephews Rob Sue Stockwell of Lebanon, PA, Rick Robin Stockwell of Scottsdale, AZ, mother-in-law Pat Weibley of Hillsboro, three brothers, Leroy Newman of Dayton, Robert Newman of Missouri, Estill Newman of Dayton, six sisters, Beatrice Bryant of Kentucky, Pearlie Newsome of Kentucky, Shirley Rhoads of Leesburg, Dora Warnock of Hillsboro, Mary Thompson of Hillsboro and Hester Pennington of Hillsboro; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, September 28, 2001 at 11:00 A.M. at the Hillsboro Church of Christ with Bobby Warren officiating. Burial will follow in the New Market Baptist Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday evening from 4:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
