Shirley Couser, 86 of Sinking Spring, Ohio went peacefully to be with her Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ on September 25, 2021.
Shirley (Irvin) Couser born on March 6, 1935 in Higginsport, Ohio, was the daughter of William and Sara Elizabeth (Shinkle) Irvin. She was a 1953 graduate of Sinking Spring High School. Shirley retired from the A-Plant in Piketon, Ohio in 1992 after 38 years as a secretary and trainer.
Shirley accepted Jesus Christ as her personal Saviour in her teenage years and was a charter member of the Grace Bible Church where she attended and heartily served near to 70 years. The Lord Jesus Christ, her family, and her church was her whole life's love. She always had a testimony of God's mercy and grace, being thankful to the Lord for saving her soul, blessing and protecting her all her life. Her smile and willingness to be a help and blessing to others was known by all who met and knew her. She believed that by helping others she was doing it for the Lord. After a couple weeks and in her final hours of struggling for each breath due to her illness, she never complained, had a song of joy in her heart, and was comforted with her son by her side, praying and reading scripture to her from the AV 1611 King James Bible that she loved and believed with all her heart. Two of the last verses she heard on this earth were 2 Timothy 4:7,8 (KJV). She praised the Lord in life and in death.
Shirley was so very thankful for all the prayers that meant more to her than anything, but also the calls, cards, texts, flowers, gifts, and love from many, and especially the song that she requested that was sung to her over the phone by a loving friend the day before her passing...What a Day That Will Be!
Shirley will be greatly missed [here] by all who knew and loved her. And as the Pastor of the Grace Bible Church rightly said, a person with such a small stature has left a huge hole in the church. She was an unwavering faithful witness for the Lord, and her deepest desire and repeated prayer was that all would receive Jesus Christ as their personal Saviour so that they, too, can someday have a home in Heaven. (Romans 10:9-13 KJV).
Shirley is survived by her son Tony (and Sharon) Couser of Sinking Spring; sister, Beverly Beltz of Hillsboro; grandson, Craig (and Brittany) of Hillsboro; 2 granddaughters Sarah (and Jeremy) MacKenzie, and Nikki
(and Taylor) Johnson both of Hillsboro; eight great-grandchildren; Lydia, Harper, Jackson, Judd, Kenday, Baylen, Cason and Teagan, one niece, Vicky Beltz of Hillsboro; one nephew, Doug Irvin of Dayton; 4 step- grandchildren, and 12 step-great grandchildren. All whom she loved and prayed for faithfully. She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Elizabeth Irvin; husband, Danny Couser; daughter, Tina White; and brother, Lowel Irvin.
There will be a Memorial Service at the Grace Bible Church in Sinking Spring, OH on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at 11 AM with her son, Tony Couser, officiating.
