Shirley Elizabeth Short, 77 years of Sinking Spring, died Saturday, September 27, 2014 at the Bethesda North Hospital.
She was born March 11, 1937 in Rarden, OH., the daughter of the late Alfred and Valley (Strickland) Copas. Beside her parents, she was preceded in death by one grandson Teddy Short; two brothers, Paul and Francis Copas; four sisters, Vadie Perry, Beulah Bernice, Goldie Wood, Sarah Margaret Cecil.
She is survived by her husband Ray Short; three sons, Ronald Stratton of Sardinia, Carl Short of Sinking Spring, Raymond Short of Sinking Spring; seven daughters, Janet (Brian) Gohring of Waverly, Carolyn Short of Sinking Spring, Lynda (Timothy) Shoemaker of Locust Grove, Mary (Derrick) Knauff of Peebles, Alice Short of Latham, Rhonda Short of Sinking Spring, Sarah (Terry) McJunkin of Latham; six grandchildren, Robert Stratton, James Stratton, Crystal Short, Byron Short, Desirae McJunkin, Dylan McJunkin; three grandchildren, Xavier Wilt, Amerie Wilt, Kylee Stratton; one sister Carol (Guy) Bentley of Dayton; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring.
Burial will follow in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery.
