Staff Sergeant Omer Thomas O.T. Hawkins, 31 years of the U.S. Armed Forces, died Thursday, October 14, 2004 at Ar Ramadi, Iraq.
He was born in Adams County, Ohio on November 29, 1972 the son of William Hawkins and Mona Lisa Moon Christman.
He was a graduate of North Adams High School. He enlisted in the early entry program for the Army in his senior year, and left for Fort Leonard Wood, Missouri the day after graduation. He served in Korea, Kosovo, Yugoslavia, Kuwait, and Iraq. He was in the Army for thirteen years.
He was preceded in death by his father, former Marine William Richard Hawkins, who passed away in 1977.
He is survived by his mother, Lisa Christman of Hillsboro, sister, Cherry Frederick of Cincinnati, brother, Buck Hawkins of St. Louis, Missouri, niece, Teresa, and nephew, Josh.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday, October 24, 2004 at the convenience of the family at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Visitation will be Saturday, October 23, 2004 from 3:00 till 6:00 P.M. at the North Adams High School, with a Memorial Service Saturday at 3:00 P.M. at the North Adams High School.
Memorials may be made to donor's favorite charity.
