Thomas R. Hughes

Thomas R. Hughes, 99 years of Seaman, passed away on Friday July 27, 2018 at the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown.
He was born in Adams County on November 23, 1918, the son of the late Samuel and Bertha (Mahaffey) Hughes. Besides his parents, he was also preceded by his wife, Charlotte (Bloom) Hughes and 15 brothers and sisters.
Thomas was a member of the Countryside Church of Christ, served in the United States Army during World War II, being a recipient of the Bronze and Silver Star, the Purple Heart and a member of the Ohio Military Hall of Fame, was a member of the Seaman A.M. Legion Post #633, F & AM Lodge #166 and was a member of the Adams County Honor Guard.
Thomas is survived by his two sons, Larry (Janet) Hughes of San Diego, CA and Richard (Jane) Hughes of Winchester, two daughters, Barbara (Ron) Harrell of Lawrenceburg, IN and Connie Sue Hohn of Seaman, seven grandchildren, 21 great grandchildren and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Sunday August 5, 2018 at the Countryside Church of Christ. Burial will follow at the Mt. Leigh Cemetery with military rites conducted by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Friends may call from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM Saturday August 4, 2018 at the Wallace-Thompson Lewis-Sullivan Funeral Home in Seaman.
Donations can be sent to the Ohio Veterans Home in Georgetown or to the Countryside Church of Christ.
