Vayne McCoy, age 90 of Peebles, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2014 at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.
He was born in Jaybird, Ohio on February 24, 1924 the son of the late Earl and Iva Jones McCoy.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by one son, Terry Johnson and two grandsons, Shane McCoy and Eric Johnson.
Vayne was a US Army veteran serving in World War II, when he returned home from World War II he was a heavy equipment operator and co-owner of McCoy Lumber in Peebles, and was a Franklin Township Trustee. In the late 50's to early 60's he ran the restaurant in Locust Grove, during the 60's and 70's he owned the Real McCoy Drive-in in Peebles, he was a car salesman for almost 50 years, a Charter member of the VFW, and a member of AMVETS.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Mason McCoy of Peebles, who he married on August 1, 1946; two sons, Joe Kathy McCoy of Bethel, Ohio and Jack Sis McCoy of Peebles; one daughter Kathy Butler Guy of Peebles; sister-in-law, Katy Harv Covert of Columbus; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 29, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Phil Fulton officiating. Burial will follow in Locust Grove Cemetery with a military graveside service given by the Adams County Honor Guard.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
