Virgie Prater, age 89 of Peebles, passed away Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Hospice of Hope Ohio Valley Inpatient Center.
She was born in Insko, Kentucky on April 18, 1924 the daughter of the late John and Oma Lacy Nickell.
Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Herman Prater who passed away in 2001.
Virgie was a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #548.
She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dale and Barbara Prater of Morgantown, West Virginia; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deloris and Mike Polley of Cincinnati, Vicky and John Hayslip of Portsmouth, and Eleen and Wayne Smalley of Peebles; three brothers and sisters-in-law, Jimmy Nickell of Sandy Hook, Kentucky, A.C. and Ann Nickell of Bethel, and Daryll and Billie Nickell of Hamersville, Ohio; one sister, Oleta Gibson of Surprise, Arizona; 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles with Tom Claibourne officiating. Burial will follow in Kirker Cemetery.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 12:00 till 1:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles.
