Virgil C. Grooms, 91 years of Peebles, died Tuesday, July 13, 2004 at the Adams County Hospital in West Union.
He was born in Peebles, Ohio on February 19, 1913 the son of the late Harvey and Sylvia Jobe Grooms.
He was a member of the Peebles Church of Christ, Peebles Masonic Lodge #581, and the Scottish Rite Valley of Cincinnati. He was a mechanic at the Goodyear Atomic Plant.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by his brother, Omer Grooms.
He is survived by his wife, Gladys Young Grooms, who he married on January 30, 1936, four sons, Dale and Glenna Grooms of Peebles, Jim Grooms of Peebles, Harold and Shirley Grooms of Peebles, Jerry and Teresa Grooms of Peebles, five grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 16, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Peebles Church of Christ with Bill Christman officiating. Burial will follow in the Locust Grove Cemetery.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home in Peebles, with Masonic service at 7:30 P.M.
