Virginia Evelyn Mccoy Bare

February 18, 1925 — June 11, 2011

Virginia Evelyn McCoy Bare, 86 years of Hillsboro, died Saturday, June 11, 2011.

Virginia was born February 18, 1925, the daughter of the late Asa E. Gabrilla Williamson McCoy.

Virginia married William Julius Bare on September 29, 1945 and Julius preceded her in death on June 1, 2001 after 56 years of marriage. She is also preceded in death by one daughter Julie Bare Fordyce, three brothers, Scott McCoy, Harley McCoy, Wray McCoy, two sisters, Helena Blankenship, Teresa Mooney.

Virginia began 1st grade at the age of 4 in Grove City and graduated in 1941 from the Hillsboro High School at the age of 16. After graduation Virginia attended the Miami-Jacobs Business College.

For several decades Virginia was a dealer in antiques. She owned antique shops and also sold at antique shows. She was a strong proponent in preserving historical sites and she spent many years serving as a volunteer at the Highland County Historical Society. She and Juluis renovated three 150 year old houses. Virginia also enjoyed working with genealogy research on family tracing for years.

Virginia is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Nicholas A. and Sharon Bare of Hillsboro; one daughter, Virginia "Susie" Bare McCarty of Columbus, OH., four grandchildren, Kyle A. McCarty of Columbus, OH., Sara A. McCarty of Columbus, OH., Amy R. Dodds of Hilton Head, SC., Christopher P. Dodds of Hillsboro; two great grandchildren, Megan Dodds and Ethan Dodds.

Funeral services will be held 4:00 P.M. Thursday, June 16, 2011 at the Sonner Chapel Methodist Church.

Pastor Wayne Edingfield will officiate with burial to follow in the New Market Presbyterian Cemetery.

Friends may call Thursday from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M. at the Sonner Chapel Methodist Church.
