Wayne L. Allen, 90 years of the Sinking Spring Community, died Friday, December 18, 2009 at the Laurels of Hillsboro.

He was born in Burlington, Colorado on June 13, 1919, the son of the late Samuel and Mina Peterson Allen. Beside his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers.

He was an Army Veteran serving in the Cavalry during WWII. He attended the Sinking Spring United Methodist Church and was a member of the West Milton Church of the Brethren. Wayne was a Professional Horse Trainer by Vocation, he was the first Marlboro Man, and a member of the Ohio Horse Council.

He is survived by his wife Janice Mote Allen of Sinking Spring, two sons Larry Marilyn Allen of Utah, David Buehler of Kettering, two daughters, Wendy Heller of Tipp City, Sandy Chris Funderburg of Tipp City, one sister, Faye Brown of California, eight grandchildren, Andrea Jones, Amy Dalton, Rusty Allen, Isaac Buehler, Jessica Heller, Jacob Heller, Janet Funderburg, Cindy Sharpnack, seven great grandchildren, Ashley & Sienna Allen, Grace Dalton, Bryer & Haven Jones, Aubree & Brynn Buehler.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 23, 2009 at 1:00 P.M. at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren, 7390 S State Route 202, Tipp City, OH. with Burton Wolfe officiating. Burial will follow with Military Graveside Rites at the Riverside Cemetery in West Milton, Ohio.

Friends may call on Tuesday evening from 4:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring and on Wednesday from 12:00 till 1:00 P.M. at the West Charleston Church of the Brethren.
