Wayne Arthur Penwell, 87 years of the Latham Community, died Tuesday, July 20, 2004 at the Pike Community Hospital in Waverly.
He was born in Latham, Ohio on March 30, 1917 the son of the late Enoch and Bertha Knisley Penwell.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the American Legion Post #142 of Waverly.
Beside his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter, Catherine Stone, three sisters, and one brother.
He was united in marriage on July 18, 1948 to Martha Jane Collins Penwell, who survives. He is also survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Wayne Douglas and Pam Penwell of Piketon, Michael and Vicky Penwell of the Latham Community, four daughters and sons-in-law, Wanda and Ed Becker of Kingston, Ohio, Lora and Tony VanMeter of Peebles, Mary and Carlos Knisley of Peebles, Kimberly and Danny Keller of Chillicothe, three brothers, Russell Penwell of Peebles, Edward Penwell of Peebles, Charles Penwell of Peebles, two sisters, Betty Lowman of Peebles, Rinda Grooms of Washington Court House, twenty grandchildren, sixteen great grandchildren, and three great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11:00 A.M. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home in Sinking Spring. Burial will follow in the Lapperrell Cemetery with military graveside rites conducted by the American Legion Post #142 of Waverly.
Friends may call on Thursday from 5:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wylie-Thompson Funeral Home.
