Wendell H. Rickey, 67 years of Winchester, passed away Saturday, August 8, 2009 at Adams County Regional Medical Center.
He was born in Wayne Township, Adams County, Ohio on June 4, 1942 the son of the late John Thomas and Elva M. Purdin Rickey.
Wendell was a longtime member of the Bethlehem Church of Christ, the Winchester Masonic Lodge #236, Valley of Cincinnati Scottish Rite, a former board member of the Adams County Hospital, and numerous other organizations.
He is survived by his daughter Melissa Hacker of Seaman, step daughter Marcia Pizzuto of Winchester, son-in-law Kevin Carpenter of Seaman, five brothers; Robert of Dayton, Charles B. of Mt. Carmel, Ohio, John of Winchester, Roger of Winchester, and Ronald Rickey of Decatur, three sisters; Mary Phyllis Carl of Enon, Ohio, Miss Emma Rickey of Dayton, and Shirley Massey of Wilmington, two grandsons; Justin and Nathan Gotherman, and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. at the Decatur Methodist Church with Charles Grimes officiating.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 4:00 till 8:00 P.M. at the Wayne Township Community Center. There will be a Masonic Service at 8:00 P.M. and a Scottish Rite Service immediately after; the Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home, Bradford-Sullivan Chapel in Winchester is in charge of the arrangements.
Memorials may be made to Decatur Community Center, Adams County Historical Society, Adams County Genealogical Society, or the Wayne Township Community Center.
