Wesley "Wes" Knight

Charles Wesley "Wes" Knight, 82 years of Hillsboro, passed away Wednesday, February 9, 2022.

Wes was born May 12, 1939 in Oregonia, OH, the son of the late Arthur R. and Stella M. (Smith) Knight. Beside his parents, Wes was preceded in death by a brother, Paul Knight.
Wes fondest memories as a boy growing up along the Little Miami River was being with his Grandfather Smith, having adventures hunting and ginseng digging. Wes loved to hunt mushrooms and coon hunt as well.

Wes was a 1959 graduate of Lebanon High School: member of the Highland County Farm Bureau, Ohio Cattlemen's Association and the Hillsboro, Chillicothe, Gallipolis Area Feeder Calf Association. Wes owned and operated Knight & Knight Construction, a lifelong farmer and worked part-time at the United Producers Livestock in Hillsboro.

August 3, 1957 in Oregonia at the little church, he married the love and companion of his life, Jo Anne Eileen Mears. There in the community they started their lives together. But Wesley's dream was to farm and in 1973, he and Jo Anne purchased a farm on Harriett Road, at the edge of North Union. There they raised their three sons, built their home and created a thriving, beautiful farm. He also enjoyed working at Producers Stock Yard his co-workers and neighbors in the community became friends.

Wes and Jo Anne were blessed with three loving sons, Douglas Knight (Cheryl Hoover Knight) of Hillsboro, Jeff (Christa) Knight of Hillsboro, Steve (Karen) Knight of Sardinia; nine dear grandchildren, Emily Knight (Adam Richard May), Clarinda Knight (Charles Eric Hans), Elizabeth Knight (Benjamin Hyun), J.D. (Shelby Fitzgerald) Knight, Nicki (Tate Erkenbrecher) Erkenbrecher, Caleb Knight, Michael (Kristina Scott) Knight, Charles "C.J." (Sheyann Smith) Knight, Brittany (Nick Meyers) Lauren; ten great grandchildren, Bentley Ward, Bryson Cloud, Gage Erkenbrecher, Parker Erkenbrecher, Sadie, Sophie, Elijah, Xander, Harper, Elara; one brother, Lonnie E. Knight of Warren County, OH; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, February 16, 2022 at the Thompson Funeral Home in Hillsboro.

Pastor Lloyd Shoemaker will officiate with burial following in the Dunkard Ridge Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Tuesday from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. at the Thompson Funeral Home.
