William Samuel (Billy) Shaffer, age 68, of Hillsboro, Ohio Marshall Township rested in the arms of Jesus on November 24, 2022, in the comfort of his own home. He was born on October 17, 1954 in Hillsboro, Ohio to his parents William Pierce and Virginia Evelyn (Flora) Shaffer. Billy was the Pastor of Rocky Mountain High Church in Hillsboro Ohio. Billy spent 40 years in the ministry evangelizing, pastoring, traveling, playing music, and singing. In his earlier years, he ran and operated Mission America out of New Vienna Ohio and Charity Mission Inc. out of Hillsboro Ohio, serving the communities with the love of Jesus, food, clothing, and gifts at Christmas time to the Appalachian communities. Billy was a United States Navy Vietnam Veteran where he served for 4 years. He was able to travel to many countries. He often spoke of being able to stand in "Paul's shoes" from Mars Hill. Billy owned and operated Shaffer's Complete Home Repair for 25 years.
Billy is survived by his wife of 44 years, Cindy (Golden) Shaffer, whom he married on October 4. Also surviving are one son; Jerry (Alicia) Shaffer of Hillsboro, two daughters; Samantha (Nick) Birkhimer of Hillsboro, Tami (Nathan) Bradley of Hillsboro; eight grandchildren: Cordell (Kylee Walters) Shaffer, Ally Hutchins, Emma Birkhimer, Levi Birkhimer, Noah Birkhimer, Kendra (Michael Hartley) Scott, Caden Mckay, and Bryson Mckay; four great-grandchildren Brantley, Aubree, Addilyn, and Brooklyn Hartley; three brothers Tony (Rhonda) Shaffer of Hillsboro, Keith Shaffer of Hillsboro, and Kelvin Shaffer of New Vienna; four sisters Sandra (Walter) Barnett of Winterhaven Florida, Patricia Huston of Wilmington Ohio, Sharon Potter of Hillsboro, and Lisa Hibbs of Hillsboro; Mother-in-law Claudette Golden; many nieces, nephews, cousins, friends, and loads of church family. He was preceded in death by his parents William Pierce and Virginia Evelyn Shaffer; his sister Gloria Jean Newland, and Father-in-law Kenneth Golden.
Celebration of Life will be 12:00 PM Wednesday November 30, 2022 at the Thompson Funeral Home at 241 E. Main Street, Hillsboro. Pastor Alicia Shaffer will officate the Celebration of Life. The Highland County Honor Guard will lead services at noon.
Friends may call from 11:00 AM until time of services on Wednesday at the Thompson Funeral Home.
