William Edwin Fling, 84 years of Hillsboro, died Friday, June 17, 2005 at the Christ Hospital in Cincinnati.
He was born in Washington Township in Highland County on April 24, 1921 the son of Albert Chaney and Ruby Hetherington Fling.
Bill was a life long farmer and was a partner in the Fling Brothers Excavating, graduate of Hillsboro High School in the class of 1939, member of the Hillsboro Church of Christ, Past Master of Highland Lodge #38 F&AM, Past High Priest Hillsboro Chapter #40 R&AM, Past Illustrious High Priest Hillsboro Council #16 R&SM, Past Commander Highland Commandery #31 Knight Templar and Knight York Cross of Honor, Past Worthy Patron of Hillsboro Chapter #441 OES.
Besides his parents he was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Frances and Frank Okada, brother Albert Fling, sister Marjorie Reno.
He is survived by his wife Juel Phillips Fling whom he married on July 30, 1943, son and daughter-in-law, William E. and Debora Fling II of Hillsboro, two daughters, Marcia and Loy Lutton of Hillsboro, Emily and James Evans of Hillsboro, six grandchildren, Phillip Lutton, Lauren Lutton, Matthew Fling, Andrew Evans, Nathan Evans and Anne Evans, four great grandchildren, Will, Reece, Spencer and Connor, sister and brother-in-law, Martha and Rodney Kellis of Hillsboro.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 20, 2005 at 2:00 P.M. at the Hope Miller-Thompson Funeral Home with John Porter officiating. Burial will follow in the Hillsboro Cemetery.
Friends may call on Monday from 1:00 P.M. till time of services at 2:00 P.M. Masonic Services will be held Monday at 2:00 P.M. with services to follow.
