Winifred (Anne) Rhude

July 7, 1928 — September 20, 2022

On Tuesday morning September 20th, Winifred (Anne) Rhude went home to be with The Lord.

She was born on July 7th 1928, the daughter of the late Robert E. Wright Jr. and Thelma Clark Wright. She was proceeded in death by her husband Thomas G. Rhude.

She is survived by her two daughters Kathleen Rhude Decker of St. Petersburg, Florida and Rebecca Rhude-Martin (Kurtis) of Liberty Township, Ohio, four grandchildren Douglas Decker, Phillip Martin, Hunter Martin, Chase Martin, and four great grandchildren, Carson, Dylan, Tyson, and Jaden.

She spent her early years of life in Cincinnati, Ohio and later attended Wilmington College.

She actively served on the Board of the Highland County Historical Society, The Junior Woman's Club, and The Friday Club. She served as a Girl Scout leader and taught Vacation Bible School. Striving to enrich the lives of young girls in their area, she and her husband donated the use of a portion of their farm to The Girl Scouts of America. Camp Stepping Stones became a place for girls in the community to create many wonderful memories.

She was an active member of the First United Methodist Church of Hillsboro for over seventy years. She loved and treasured her Sunday school class and church Circle members and the fellowship that they shared.

She was the owner of Gable House Antiques and enjoyed going to auctions and having visits with her customers. She was highly creative and loved writing stories for her grandchildren. Throughout her lifetime she maintain friendships with numerous people both young and old. She will be remembered as a wonderful mother and grandmother who was always loving and supportive.

She was loved dearly, will be missed and always remembered, by many.

As well, she was preceded in death by her best friend of 66 years Ms. Isabel Kier. Throughout their friendship they talked on the phone each and every day, both morning and evening.

The family will be holding a private memorial service. Any communication or cards of condolence may be sent to 241 E. Main St., Hillsboro, OH 45133.
